WCAN's COMMERCIAL EDGE COMPETITION

is the first corporate commercial awareness case study competition for black women university students and recent graduates across investment banking, law & consulting.

Who we are looking for?

​

  • You are, preferably, a very focused early stage young professional in any area within investment banking, commercial law or professional servicesThis is an exciting opportunity for an extremely organised, smart, efficient and organised, well-communicated and confident person

  • You will know how to form relationships and partnerships at the drop of a hat

  • You should know how to develop strategy and lead our relationships with corporates, other groups and also press, be comfortable working in a team 

  • You will be able to engage effectively with a range of stakeholders and balance priorities in a fast-paced environment and work effectively and independently

  • You must be proactive, creative, passionate, innovative, interested in social enterprise work

  • You are preferably a very focused early stage young professional in any area within investment banking, commercial law or professional services

What will be your responsibilities?

​

As a Programme Leader, you will be the primary team running the Commercial Edge Competition, this will be down to the organisation of the case studies, the planning of the events, the sourcing of judges and the marketing and promotion of the event. You will also be responsible for contact with all sponsors, ensuring they have all the information needed to effectively work with WCAN. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Take the lead on one of the key areas; Strategy & Competition Content, Event Planning, Sponsor & Judge Liasion, Marketing & Communications

  • ​

  • Work with a team of 5 others to deliver on an amazing first case study competition

    • Strategy & Competition Content:

      • Develop the case studies alongside your team that will be used in the competitions​

      • Develop the judging criteria for the case studies

      • Prepare the application process and selection process of attendees

    • Event Planning​

      • Plan the logistics of the two events for the competition​

      • Manage the agenda and the day

    • Sponsor & Judge Liaison​​​

      • Find the sponsors that will participate in the event and offer prizes​

      • Find the judges that will judge the competition

    • Marketing & Communications​

      • Formulate all communications and marketing materials for the event

      • Come up with marketing schedule for the competition

Working style​

As the role is voluntary, the entire team works or studies full time, we work remotely and virtually the majority of the time. There is no set hours of time worked when part of WCAN, you only have to be in meetings and meet deadlines – how you choose to do this is up to you.
